I cycled into Manchester city centre because it was the beginning of Bike Week - and there were some stalls in Cathedral Gardens. There weren't that many to be honest and they all seemed to be giving out the same leaflets, but nonetheless it was worth going in for. As it happened the RNLI were also collecting in the city on the same day and, as a supporter, I wanted to see what they were up to. (Not much other than collection buckets, really, but I'm not sure what else I was expecting really - perhaps a boat?!)

Incidentally, there was a wonderful bit of cycle path on the A56 on this journey. Going up over the Mancunian Way junction it's not too bad - a completely segregated way that has toucan crossings, the lot - helpful as it's a busy junction. Thing is, after a while it came to an end - and dumped me facing the wrong way against the flow of the traffic! It was faintly ridiculous, and I had to cross the road to continue my journey on the correct side of the road...
