We've calmed down a little from all the events so I cycled into work on Friday after adjusting my brakes in the sun on Thursday evening. The forecast was for rain that Friday evening, so I ran the risk. I lost the gamble...
Getting there wasn't too much of a problem, though it was a bit breezy at times; additionally I struggled, as I normally do at that time in the morning, in getting warmed up and generally into the ride. However, the traffic seemed abnormally light (which is good) so I didn't feel too threatened during the journey.
The heavens opened late morning. In fact, the south of England was flooded once again as a consequence of this rain... so I was going to get wet when I got round to making the journey back! I had my waterproof, so that (combined with my helmet) kept the worst of it off me. However, it still wasn't terribly pleasant - although it was warm and just very wet, going through puddles and being splashed by other traffic wasn't conducive to an enjoyable ride. I'm very definintely a fair-weather cyclist!
I probably ought to stop reporting my rides to work on here, but when I do ride to work I do about 11 miles in a day - which is still an achievement in my book. I very definitely feel weary at home when I've cycled to work, so it's not something I can just take for granted yet. Sorry it's not terribly interesting to read about!
