I went over to Frodsham today to see a friend who'd bought a bike last year, and he was keen to take it out for the first time this year. We headed over onto the Wirral, having spied a route on the OS map, and went from Willaston to Neston. The route was part of the Millennium cycleway (see Cheshire county council's webpage about it) and was well surfaced.

After a gloriously sunny weekend it was disappointing to find that it was largely overcast and grey; it was raining slightly from time to time, too, and a chilly breeze was around for most of the ride. Still, it wasn't enough to put us off. We basically pootled down the track and back again, stopping for a sandwich on the Parade at Parkside/Neston - overlooking Wales (I think) through the grey and mist. Back at Willaston there's a restored station house, platform, signal and signal box and a small section of track, which is a nice surprise and a nice addition to the converted railway. All in all a pleasant way to spend a bank holiday, and nice to see my friend again.
